Where do the boys campers live during camp?

Our boys campers stay in Granville Towers Dorm which is located on Franklin Street. Granville has its own cafeteria where most of our meals will be. The rooms are air conditioned and set up as suites with two campers per room. Two rooms share a bathroom to make up the suite. We will bus our campers to the golf course each day. You will need to bring soap and shampoo, a pillow and linens for your twin bed and shower towel.

Is there housing available for the Father / Son Day Camp?

We do not have housing for the Father / Son Day Camp, but if you are traveling from out of town and staying in Chapel Hill please contact us for a list of hotels close to the golf course.

Can a father bring more than one son to camp?

We encourage fathers and sons of all ages and have had adult sons bring their father as a Father’s Day present. We have also had Father / Son / Grandson combinations. Fathers can bring multiple sons, nephews, uncles and we prorate the cost at $300 per participant.

If I fly to golf camp where should I fly into and is there transportation to camp?

Overnight Campers flying to golf camp should fly into Raleigh-Durham Airport. We will provide transportation to and from the RDU Airport which is 25 minutes from campus. Please book flights to arrive by 2:00 PM of the first day of camp and return flight after 4:00 PM on the last day of camp.

If I am driving where do we go to check in for overnight camp?

Check in for Overnight camp will be at Granville Towers located off of Franklin Street. Check in starts at 1:00 PM and runs to 3:00 PM so please arrive with enough time to get your room situated before we start camp at 3:00 PM.

Where is check in for the Father / Son Day Camp?

Father / Son Day Camp check in will be at the Chapman Golf Center at Finley Golf Course. Check in will be at 8:30 AM on Saturday so that we can get everyone oriented and start instruction at 9:00 AM sharp. Sunday check in will be right before 9:00 AM.

What type of golf bag should I bring to camp?

Please bring the lightest bag possible. You will be expected to carry your bag throughout the entire camp.

What kind of clothes should I bring?

Please bring golf clothes for our time at the golf course for each day. Additionally you may want to change shorts and into a t-shirt or other casual clothing for our evening sessions back at the dorm. You will spend very little time in non-golf clothing. Bring hats and sunscreen to protect your skin.

Do I need raingear?

We will play and teach in light rain as long as there is not lightning in the area, so a rain jacket might be helpful. Please make sure to bring an umbrella to camp.

Can I bring snacks and drinks with me to camp?

Yes. Snacks and drinks are permitted in your dorm room. There is not a refrigerator in the dorm room but there is an ice machine in the basement of our tower. All meals and drinks at the course are provided by the Carolina Boys Overnight Camp and we will have Gatorade and water at the course. There are also vending machines that sell drinks and snacks located in the basement of our dorm.

How much money should I bring to camp?

All meals are provided starting with dinner on the first day of camp ending with lunch on the final day of camp. You may want to bring some money for snacks and drinks or if you want to shop in the golf shop for a UNC Golf souvenir. You are responsible for keeping track of your own money so please do not bring more money than what is needed.

Should I bring my laptop, ipod, ipad, etc?

You will be busy from 7:30 AM-9:00 PM each day with a short break for lunch and dinner. Very little time is left for using these devices. It is your responsibility to keep track of your property and to lock your dorm room. The Carolina Boys Overnight Golf Camp is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

How do I remember all of the instruction that I will be receiving every day?

Each camper will receive a Camp Notebook full of instructional information along with pages to take notes for each individual instructional session and every evening session. We encourage you to take great notes so that when you go home you are able to remember what you learned and share them with your parents or golf instructor.

Will I get to tour the UNC Campus while at Camp?

We typically take a quick tour of campus one of the days of camp when we go to our strength and conditioning facility, but if you want a more thorough tour of campus you should plan to do that before or after the session.
